China users can hardly wait to get their hands on Apple’s latest smartphone and there has long been speculation about when Apple would release the iPhone 4 in China. China goes through some extra steps to get devices approved in it’s country and the time it takes lasts considerably longer then say, in the US or Canada. Unicom, China’s second largest cellphone carrier, confirms what many wanted to hear, a release date for the iPhone 4 in China and soon at that.

you can expect to pick-up(in China) the hottest smartphone on the market, September 16th. Unicom experienced a huge drop is sales this last quarter but still beat out their expectations. This is largely a result of customers holding out for the iPhone 4.
