Verizon Takes Nearly 13% of AT&T iPhone Users so far

When the iPhone was first available on Verizon, AT&T’s iPhone user-base went down about 3%. This was much lower than most had expected but it seems as though Verizon is slowly eating away at AT&T. A whopping 12.7% of AT&T iPhone users have now made there way over to Verizon.

This is largely do to AT&T customers waiting until their contract ends in-order to avoid steep early termination fees. Some may forget that the core reason for switching is to hopefully receive better cell coverage and less dropped calls. So far, Verizon’s network is holding strong, but for how long?

Verizon Network Handles New iPhone Users Well

TUAW reports that Verizon is doing well with the addition of the iPhone 4 on their network and the inevitable new users that followed. In fact, Verizon’s network performance change was minimal, only less that one percent slower based on browser speed and page load times.

It’s been calculated that 500-700 thousand new iPhone 4 users are on Verizon’s network currently. A very plausible reason for the absence of a significant drop in network performance is that many current Verizon users just upgraded to the iPhone 4 and much less of those 500-700k users are new users, likely hacing switched from AT&T.

White iPhone Strike again! Appears in Apple’s German Database

This sighting is the definitive proof that a White iPhone 4 is just around the corner. Today the German Apple website was updated to show both the black and the white versions of the iPhone 4. It was promptly taken down but the damage was done.

We’re only left to speculate when the white iPhone 4 will be released and it begs the question; why would Apple not release the white version along with it’s announcement to run a CDMA iPhone on Verizon’s network?

New Year’s Eve Party Graced with iPhone 4 Cake

Here’s a fun story.. One Krishna Kalyan of India decided that there could be no better way to bring in the new year than to have ordered a replica iPhone 4 as a cake. The cake shown in the picture even has Krishna’s favorite applications displayed as the icons on the home screen.

There’s know more information given about the iPhone 4 cake though, how many gigs it has, how good reception is, if it tastes any good. I can’t help but thinking it sort of looks like a very large iPhone 4 ice cream cake though.

iPhone 4 Has The Better Screen, Beats Nexus S and HTC HD7

As you are probably well aware, many competitors to the iPhone 4 are consistantly trying to one-up Apple by outdoing at least one aspect of the iPhone 4.  As it turns out, not even the hottest smartphones on the market beat the iPhone 4 when it came to the touchscreen.

The guys over at CNET put the Nexus S,  HTC HD7 and iPhone 4 to the test as they compared various aspects of each phones screen. The screens black level, brightness, color pattern and more. Overall CNET gave the it up to the iPhone 4 for trumping most aspects of the screen compared to the Nexus S and the HTC HD7. If you want the full scoop, head on over to CNET and give it a read.

Sam’s Club Offering Cheaper iPhone 4′s This Week

Sam’s Club is currently offering it’s members a discount on an iPhone 4 or even a 3GS. The 3GS is $47 and the 16GB iPhone 4 can be found at $147, 52 bucks cheaper from the normal $199.99 list price. Admitedly, this isn’t a great discount, but we have to remember that Apple is very strict on what they allow it’s resellers to sell their products for.

As you might have guessed, this deal only applies to those who are willing to sign a two-year contract or renew or add a line to an existing service with AT&T. If you’d like to take advantage of this, the sale lasts until Friday. Getting an iPhone 4 for free is always the method we prefer though!

“The Only LTE iPhone” Verizon’s Marketing Campaign

MacDailyNews is either trying to get a bump in traffic or they have some credible information about Verizon’s iPhone 4. Hey, or both.. Word is that Verizon already has the iPhone 4 in their possession and are making the necessary arrangements to start selling it as soon as a formal announcement is made.

Verizon’s version of the iPhone 4 will run on it’s new network technology called “LTE”. Verizon has just started rolling out LTE and will be marketing the iPhone 4 as “The Only LTE iPhone” or at least something close to that. File this under ..maybe.

Is There Still Hope for the White iPhone 4?

May so. Recent Apple stores are saying “We’ve got the white iPhone 3! Come on in!”. Well, come on in, Spring 2011. Signage points out that the albino iPhone 4 won’t be available till much later, well into next year. Some think that, despite the evidence, the white iPhone 4 will never make it to the marketplace.

Others are dead set on it and this is only fueling their desire to hold off on signing that 2-year contract. Those who are holding out will have a tough decision next year though, do they opt for the White iPhone 4, which will be last-gen or do they wait even longer for a White iPhone 5..
