Apple Press Event to Unveil White iPhone 4

The Internet has exploded of rumors of Apple releasing the white iPhone 4, Verizon as their new carrier, the iPod Touch 4G and possibly the iTV. Apple has definitely worked up the tech world and there may be some added pressure to release info that would draw more sales in before Microsoft launches their new Windows Phone 7(Free Windows Phone 7 Phone) along with smartphones running Windows Phone 7 this Holiday season.

It’s for that reason that speculation is so high right now as to what Apple’s next move will be. By announcing and launching the white iPhone 4 or launching the iPhone 4 on Verizon earlier, Apple can capitalize on revenue instead of suffering a blow from Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 devices. Steve Jobs is expected to speak at Apple’s official press release this Wednesday.

China users can hardly wait to get their hands on Apple’s latest smartphone and there has long been speculation about when Apple would release the iPhone 4 in China. China goes through some extra steps to get devices approved in it’s country and the time it takes lasts considerably longer then say, in the US or Canada. Unicom, China’s second largest cellphone carrier, confirms what many wanted to hear, a release date for the iPhone 4 in China and soon at that.

you can expect to pick-up(in China) the hottest smartphone on the market, September 16th. Unicom experienced a huge drop is sales this last quarter but still beat out their expectations. This is largely a result of customers holding out for the iPhone 4.

iOS 4.1 to Fix iPhone 4 Antenna and Proximity Sensor Issues

Rumor has it that iOS. 4.1 is right around the corner and according to speculation, it may finally be the update that iPhone 4 users have been waiting for.  The iPhone 4 has had many complaints about antenna issues that is now clearly known as software related but another problem that hasn’t recieved so much press is also becoming a fast growing problem, the proximity sensor.

The proximity sensor is supposed to recognize when you are in a call and shut off the screen while the device is close to your face. The proximity sensor seems to be lacking and iOS 4.1 is rumored to fix not only the proximity sensor but the antenna issue as well. If users have their wish, Apple will once again have another perfect device on their hands.

Vimeo Now Supports the iPhone 4

Vimeo has been a staple for photographers, videographers and just people in general that enjoy a higher quality of content and video than some other websites and services currently offer. Vimeo is well known for it’s creative users who consistently produce high-quality short films and montages. Recently, Vimeo announced support for the iPhone 4 and iPad. No application download is required, just point your browser to the website and the device you are using will be detected and the appropriate player will be displayed for videos.

On Vimeo’s company blog, Andrew Pile had this to say:

While it was relatively easy to build an HTML5 player that worked on Vimeo.com, making an experience that could live and work anywhere is actually a big undertaking. For example, we had to write several new video players to replace what used to be just one: behind the scenes there is a new Flash player, new Flash mobile player, new iPad player, new iPhone player, and new HTML5 player. And we expect to add more.

Gamers: Rage for iPhone 4!

Gamers might want to pay attention to this one. Original creator of Doom, John Carmack tells us that Rage is set to release on the iPhone 4 in late 2010. Rage will take full advantage of what the iPhone 4 has to offer, running 60 frames per second and utilizing the inventive megatexture system. Android phones may be out of luck with this one as  developers currently have no plans to bring Rage to other smartphone operating systems.

iPhone 4 Still Selling Like Hotcakes!

It’s been several weeks now sense the launch of the iPhone 4. Pre-orders were through the roof as Apple storefronts geared up for long lines and very excited iPhone 4 owners-to-be.  Things got hairy as users noticed antenna issues which stirred up a whirlwind of controversy, criticism and speculation about how Apple could let this happen and how the company planned to remedy the problem. The announcement and eventual release of free iphone 4 bumper cases eased the minds of Apple loyalists.

In-fact, iPhone 4′s are still selling like hotcakes! Many official Apple stores and AT&T locations are struggling to keep up with the demand as they rely on daily deliveries to serve to customers. Apple anticipated that demand would have subsided by now but the antenna issues may have done them more good than harm in-terms of sales.

iPhone 4 Needs a New Home

Apple exclusive contract with AT&T is coming to an end soon. The tech industry has wide speculation about Apple’s move once the chains have finally been broken. Some say Verizon is the likely carrier as it is the next largest cell phone provider in the United States. Apple could also squeeze out some of the competitors, like the many Android phones Verizon has done so well with up until this point.

This would increase sales for the iPhone 4 while also putting the hurt on any other smartphone Verizon may have at the moment. Of course, there are other rumors that Apple could turn to Sprint or T-mobile but the odds are less so for T-Mobile as it is the smaller of the top four US carriers and runs on a different frequency that is not compatible with the iPhone 4.

Consumers are Satisfied with the iPhone 4

Change Wave Research conducted a relatively small survey in the month of July. The survey asked iPhone 4 users if they were satisfied with their purchase. Despite some users complaining about antenna issues, 72% of users said they were “very satisfied”. This doesn’t come as much as a surprise, Apple has knocked most of their products out of the park. Interestingly enough, the iPhone 3GS had better satisfaction numbers than the iPhone 4 for the first few months after launch.

Here is a tidbit of information that may spark your interest. Surveys conducted for both the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 turn up that more iPhone 3GS users complain about dropped calls than iPhone 4 users.

Jailbrake the iPhone 4

Videos of a jailbroken iPhone 4s have been making the rounds on the net but up until now, that’s all we seen. That has now changed, the creators of iThings have successfully jailbroken the iPhone 4. Jailbraking a device allows you to freely install programs or applications that Apple or any manufacturer would otherwise not allow. Congress recently passed a bill that made jailbraking a cell phone legal.

Many iPhone users who didn’t care to jailbrake their iPhones are now seriously considering it do to the recent crackdown and tighter restrictions from Apple. If you’re interested in giving this a try, head on over to jailbreakme‘s FAQ page for more info on how it works.
